THEM THAT KNOW NOT GOD

As the month of December comes around each year, the story of birth of Jesus is retold with much excitement and enthusiasm. While much of the spiritual value of the period is lost in the commercial hustle and unscriptural activities, the essence of the value of the birth of Jesus Christ our savior, is borne out over the period. The fact that angels announced His birth, He was born in humble situations, visited by wise men, and escaped the assassination by Herod are among some of the key points of most stories that will be told at this time. Most if not all, through some media will know about Jesus over this period and so much joy is expressed the world over at this time because people know about Jesus. Yet despite knowing about Jesus, so much sadness will be experience by much of these same persons because they do not know Jesus.

In 2 Thessalonians 1:8 Paul wrote that the Lord Jesus shall come “In flaming fire and take vengeance on them that know not God and that obey not the gospel of our lord Jesus Christ”. Since all who are ignorant of the gospel do not know God, then they are the ones that will face God’s wrath. Since God has already provide for us a way to know fully about life and godliness (1 Peter 2:1-3) we all are without excuse. At the times of ignorance God did allow or overlooked some of the errors, but today we do not have those provisions because God has provided enlightenment through Jesus Christ and in so doing has remove our excuses and defense against eternal punishment.

It is sad to think that so many people who know about  Jesus and has shared so many joyful Decembers with   family and friends because of the spirit of Christmas cause by Jesus, will perish because they did not know the Jesus the cause for all they enjoyed. These people will no doubt include some of our family members and good friends. Thankfully we have all lived to see another December which should represent another opportunity to see these persons and to tell them about Jesus.

Let us help them and those we interact form this December onwards not just to know about Jesus but to escape the “Flaming fire” by knowing Jesus.
