Whether we want to accept it or not, the world is changing around us. Values, attitudes and morals are constantly shifting and changing. Values that we once cherished and held dear, absolutes that were fixed are no longer believed. The Bible and the Lord’s Church are being attacked from all angles. Suddenly, we hear that we ought not to be preaching doctrine, or that when we preach the plain teachings of the scripture we are browbeating people with the truth. Some how, there is an attempt to teach the social gospel and focus on how to live our lives here and now. Televangelists with their social gospel are now setting the basis for our belief systems and practice. Many are clamouring for sermons that de-emphasize doctrine or changing and implementing strange things into the worship of the Lord’s Church. Sadly, many in the Lord’s Church will have us believe that this is the way to go. Our pews no longer hear about the sinfulness of denominationalism, or the one true church. This is why we have chosen this theme. We want to emphasize that we believe the Bible’s teaching to be absolute and fixed. Throughout this lectureship, holy men of God will reaffirm the truths of the Bible that are most surely believed among us. We are proud to be the host of this 29th Annual Lectureship. Some 29 years ago the idea of a lectureship was conceived by us here at Patrick Gardens and after hosting it for three consecutive years, it was felt that the lectureship should be rotated among the congregations on an annual basis.
