Jamaica COC Bible Quiz 2009

The Annual Youth Retreat has held as a feature for several years a Bible Quiz between the various groups on the retreat. A suggestion was made to take that model and launch a National Bible Quiz Competition.

This suggestion was taken and we are excited to announce the launch of the Jamaica Churches of Christ Bible Quiz.

The event is geared primarily at young Christians in the church between the ages of 12 and 19. It is hoped that it can be an avenue to encourage greater Bible study and interest in the word of God. Additionally we hope that the competition will help to foster greater fellowship within the local brotherhood as we come together for a day of friendly competition.

The initial Quiz which we hope will grow to be an annual event on the local Church of Christ calendar, will be organized by the Patrick Gardens Church of Christ youth group. The entire competition will take place on October 17, 2009 beginning at 9AM and ending no later than 4PM. The event will be hosted at the St. Ann’s Bay church of Christ (9 Royes Street, St. Ann’s Bay, St. Ann – 972-8513). This location was chosen to facilitate relatively easy attendance by all congregations across the island.

We encourage all congregations to make an effort to support the event and to enter a team. Where a congregation does not have sufficient members they may join with another congregation to form a team. We encourage you to not only send a team, but to attend in support of your team and the competition as a whole. This is a fun opportunity to learn and to compete in a healthy atmosphere of Christian love and fellowship.

You will find at the bottom of this page links to the rules of the competition as well as a registration form. The completed registration form must be returned to the Patrick Gardens church of Christ, in person, by mail, or email no later than September 30, 2009. From the submitted entries there will be a drawing for matches on October 3 at 4PM at the Patrick Gardens Church of Christ, from which a schedule of the matches will be created. This schedule will be circulated to the entered congregations.

This competition will have no losers, as we should all walk away encouraged and built-up from a day spent in the fellowship of the saints, exploring our knowledge of the word of God.
